Why is everybody wearing headphones?
Andreas Creten, co-founder of madewithlove, wrote a good blogpost about a few aspects of their company culture.
There are three requirements for making good products: developers with the right skills, decent product management and ideal working conditions. The reason why so many of us wear headphones has to do with the latter. As a software developer, the last thing you want is distraction: colleagues talking to each other, the sound of a coffee machine, a printer and so on. Distraction prevents you from getting “in the zone”, a state of mind in which you deliver your best work.

A pair of helping hands when naming things

One of the hardest (and sometimes frustrating) tasks in a programmer's day-to-day workload is naming things. When I have a hard time finding that perfect word, I generally wind up in one of two situations:
- I have a plausible name in mind, but I'm not entirely satisfied with it
- I have no idea what I could possibly name it

Introducing Clockwork 2.0
Clockwork is Laravel package, made by itsgoingd, that can collect a lot of helpful info such as queries executed, views loaded, route used, ... Unlike the popular laravel-debugbar package, Clockwork will not inject extra stuff into the html itself. All collected info is displayed in the developer tools of your browser (you'll need to install an extension first).
