The first PHP Antwerp meetup original

by Freek Van der Herten – 1 minute read

Earlier tonight the first PHP Antwerp meetup was held. The event was organised by Dries Vints of BeatSwich. I was the first speaker and talked a little bit about Satis and how we use it at Spatie. You can view the slides on Speakerdeck.

The big talk of the evening was delivered by Mitchell van Wijngaarden about event sourcing. He explained what it is and what the benefits of this architecture are. It was faced paced but still clear.

I had a good time afterwards talking to the other attendees and especially enjoyed Mitchell's thoughts on Doctrine and how to name things correctly.

Presumably because of the weather there were only a twenty-ish people. That number needs to grow. If you are interested in anything php related, you should join the usergroup on Meetup.com. If you want to talk at a meetup (it doesn't need to be a long one), or want to help out (by for example providing a venue), drop Dries a note.
